Thermoplastic Membranes

This group of materials does not vulcanize. Tyoical, and most common of the thermoplastics, is PVC (polyvinyl chloride). Reiniforced types have the PVC calendered or spread coated onto polyester glass fiber backings. The external surface is light in color. The underside is darker and often black.

Seaming can be accomplished with heat welding. The resulting seam is stronger, in tensile strength, than the basic sheet.

Benefits

Excellent fire resistance. Unaffected by ozone. Low maintenance.
